Rox Sheet Metal Chair

The brief of this project required the chair to be cut from a single 1200mm x 2400mm aluminium sheet whilst being able to support the weight of a 100kg person. This drove triangular internal supports in many of my designs and resulted in a simple box form with a side profile resembling the letter “R”, hence the name. Furthermore, an emphasis on sustainability and material efficiency was applied when designing the ROK chair, and as a result up to three chairs can be manufactured from one 1200mm x 2400mm aluminum sheet

The ROX sheet metal chair is my second furniture piece and was designed with a modern café or lounge setting in mind. Sitting at 445mm tall and 300 mm wide, this chair is suitable for casual indoor and outdoor environments and comes in 4 powder coat colours; green, orange, cream and navy. The powder coating also acts to protect against chipping, rust, sun damage and general wear and tear, to extend product life.
